As a Fashion stylist, I often advise my clients to buy versatile shoe styles that look perfect worn with different types of clothes. You definitely don’t need to buy a pair of shoes for every single dress or outfit in your wardrobe! When shopping for a pair of shoes, remember to pick the one that makes a good match with more than one style of clothes. The following are a good example of versatile shoes:
The heel – closed toe

The black patent heel will be your most versatile friend, for work or for dressier evening events and under trousers. If you can’t handle the height, a wedge or kitten heel would work just as well. In a closed toe shoe look for something not too pointy so that you can wear it with your opaques.
The heel – open toe

An open toed heel (or wedge or kitten heel) such as a peep toe is terrific for hot summer days when one still must go to work looking stylish, or balmy evenings with wide linen pants. Try a tan or nude shoe which is a perfect summer colour.
Ballet flat
For off-duty days and weekends, a ballet flat is a crucial essential. It’ll give you comfort and style even while you’re running around after little Jack in the playground.
Dressy sandal

Whether you choose a slip-on thong or T-bar classic, a dressy leather thong will take you from beach to lunch with the girls. There’s no doubt you’ll live in little else during summer!
Tall boot
Your first investment in knee high boots should absolutely be a black boot (patent if possible) as it will lengthen your legs when worn with black opaque tights. This is your most essential boot and from there you can experiment with different textures and colours.
Evening shoe

A little sparkly number for special occasions will complete your shoe wardrobe. Select from either black which is safe, or silver. You’d also be surprised at how versatile a nude or bronze coloured shoe is.
